Almost half of the patents in Poland in 2019 granted to institutions of Polish Academy of Sciences

Almost 47% of 3,042 patents that the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland were granted universities, research institutes and scientific units of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The result was published in the annual report of the Polish Patent Office for 2019.

The West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin was in the lead position (121 patents), the Lublin University of Technology was second (118), and the Lodz University of Technology was third (101). The top five were closed by the Wrocław University of Science and Technology and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, with 85 and 83 patents obtained, respectively.

Last year, universities, together with research institutes and scientific units of the Polish Academy of Sciences, submitted 1,851 inventions and utility models, what made 39% of the total number of applications.
