The role of the National Science Centre (NCN) in shaping the research landscape in Poland and the financial needs of Polish science were the main topics of a conversation between the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Dariusz Wieczorek, and the Director of the NCN, Prof. Krzysztof Jóźwiak.

The visit of the head of the Ministry of Science to NCN was an opportunity to discuss the role of the National Science Centre in financing scientific research in Poland. Key issues related to the development of NCN in the coming years were also discussed, particularly in the context of stimulating the activity of Polish researchers on the international arena and increasing their participation in European programmes.

“An important part of the meeting was also the issue of increasing NCN’s earmarked subsidy allocated directly to funding competitions.

We all recognise the necessity of increasing the budget of the National Science Centre and, following the presentation of expectations by NCN, we want to continue our efforts to change it this year”, declared Minister Wieczorek.
