The 100th anniversary of the founding of the International Federation of Catholic Universities (IFCU/FIUC) provided an opportunity for representatives of the authorities of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University (UKSW) to meet with Pope Francis and representatives of the Roman Curia. As part of the event, the Vatican hosted a conference on ‘The University and the Church – the future of universities on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of FIUC’.

The conference gathered more than 200 representatives of the academic world gathered around the International Federation of Catholic Universities, established in 1924. Today, the organisation brings together almost 245 academic organisations, universities and faculties that operate on all continents.

“This amazing meeting with the universal Church gathered around the idea and mission of Catholic universities, ecclesiastical universities and those drawing on universal Christian traditions, was a strengthening not only of international relations, but in a special way a building of a deep bond of science and faith between the entities constituting the International Conference of Catholic Universities”, said the Revd Prof Ryszard Czekalski, Rector of UKSW, who was in Rome.
