The album ‘Roman Ryterband – The Journey’ won the ‘Gold Medal – Best of Show’ in this year’s international music competition Global Music Awards. The material was produced jointly by Dr Anna Kijanowska, University of Silesia, and Dr Małgorzata Kaniowska, Faculty of Arts and Education Sciences at the University of Silesia.

The CD consists of selected works by Roman Ryterband, which were composed during and after the Second World War. In its justification for the award, the jury praised the emotional performances for “evoking the feeling of a vague wandering to a distant and better future that does not leave the listener”.

Prof. Kijanowska was the originator and initiator of the project. Her playing on the piano can be heard on the album. Prof. Kaniowska conducted the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, which also features in the recordings of “Roman Ryterband – The Journey”, and she is also the author of the critical commentary on the CD.
