The thesis of Martyna Kędrzyńska, a graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), has won the main prize in the competition “Common space is a value”, organised by the National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Her master’s thesis “PGR 2.0. The legacy of the idea of collectivisation of agriculture. Revitalisation of former State Agricultural Farms in the municipality of Chojna” won first place in the design category.

“The areas of the socialist countryside have been marginalised for years, waiting to disappear completely from the face of the earth and from collective memory. The PGR 2.0 project aims to reverse this trend and work with the area of the post-Pegean village, treating all layers of history equally and adding another chapter to it”, emphasises Martyna Kędrzyńska.

According to PW, the concept presents a vision for a model adaptation of a post-gekeer manor, combining a residential function with a place of work, leisure and a rural landscape. The central element is the manor yard transformed into a public space of the village, which would concentrate the social activity of the inhabitants.
