A Physiotherapy Clinical Unit for the neurologically and mentally ill will be established at the State Hospital for the Neurologically and Mentally Ill in Rybnik. The unit will be established thanks to the hospital’s cooperation with the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice.
The establishment of the unit will enable students to learn the profession in practice, having contact with patients and their environment. During the theoretical classes, students will learn more about the sciences of psychiatry and geriatrics, and in the practical part they will have the opportunity to work individually with patients and learn group work, thanks to conducting physiotherapy classes using virtual reality and using the hospital’s training room.
The first scientific research project to be carried out in the department will be on the application of virtual reality in treatment and physiotherapy using the latest digital technologies that allow the subjects to move in a created reality.
