Best master’s theses on common and public spaces awarded

The National Institute of Architecture and Urbanism (NIAU) has decided on the 5th competition for graduates from various disciplines for the best master’s theses addressing the theme of common and public spaces.

The competition was conducted in two categories.

In the design category, theses in architecture, interior architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, spatial management, design, graphic design, conservation of monuments and related fields covering projects concerning public spaces were evaluated.

The theoretical category included works describing phenomena occurring in public space, concerning public buildings, typologies, history and socio-economic changes. 

The main prize in the theoretical thesis category was awarded to Martyna Florek from the Faculty of Architecture at Wrocław University of Science and Technology for her thesis ‘Urban agriculture centre – metamorphosis of post-industrial areas’.

In the theoretical thesis category, the main prize was awarded to Hanna Kraś from the Faculty of Visual Culture Management at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw for her thesis ‘Psycho-social ethics of designing residential neighbourhoods’.
