A model flower meadow will soon be growing on a one-hectare site at the Biocentre of the Poznań University of Life Sciences. The area has been planted with a specially selected mixture of 50 species of grasses and other meadow plants, which will provide a picturesque landscape and valuable habitat for a variety of animal and insect species. The meadow is being created under the guidance of scientists from the Department of Meadow Science and Natural Landscape.

The symbolic sowing was carried out by Rectors Prof. Krzysztof Szoszkiewicz and Prof. Piotr Goliński, and Chancellors Robert Fabiański and Jarosław Sierszchulski.

Flower meadows aim to improve the quality of life of society by providing visually attractive spaces and valuable natural functions. Their establishment is a form of promoting biodiversity and providing many ecosystem services. Therefore, the establishment of flower meadows has recently become very fashionable, but unfortunately this is often done in the wrong way.
