Polish and Lithuanian scientists submitted 253 applications within the first DAINA call organized by the National Science Center together with the Lithuanian Scientific Council. 16 projects for the total amount of almost PLN 15 million received financing. The Polish-Lithuanian research teams carrying out research in all scientific disciplines applied for the support.
The receivers of the DAINA 1 program will research the common cultural and natural heritage of Poland and Lithuania. In this context, they will follow the perception of the bison and the primeval forest in the 18th and 19th centuries. As part of astronomical research, scientists will organize a Polish-Lithuanian “hunt” for galactic black holes, while in life sciences they will research systems of long-range electrical signaling in plants. Researchers from Poland and Lithuania will also check how the adaptation to the environmental change from water to land had progressed.
