Catholic Academy inaugurated in Warsaw

13.10.2020

On October 8, the Catholic Academy in Warsaw inaugurated its first academic year. The Academy was founded on the basis of the Pontifical Faculty of Theology as a joint initiative of the Archdiocese of Warsaw and the Jesuit Province of Wielkopolska and Mazury.

Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz, announcing the establishment of the Catholic Academy in Warsaw, emphasized that this is not only a cosmetic change of the name of the university, but recognition of the achievements and an confirmation of the maturity of the structures of the existing Pontifical Faculty of Theology with its two sections, Collegium Joanneum and Collegium Bobolanum. Until now, they cooperated within one faculty, now they co-create the Catholic Academy.

The new university will launch three faculties: theology, arts and social sciences. In the 2020/2021 academic year 1,300 students will study there.
