Completion of the project ‘Impact of low-emission reduction on the health and lifestyle of the inhabitants of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębów Metropolis’

Researchers from the Department of Physiological and Medical Sciences and the Centre for Healthy Living at the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice have completed the project “The impact of low emission reduction on the health and lifestyle of the residents of the Upper Silesian-Zagłębi Metropolis”.

The aim of the project was to determine the impact of air pollution on the risk of chronic lung disease, cardiopulmonary insufficiency and lifestyle of the inhabitants of the Upper Silesian-Głębów Metropolis (GZM). 

In the course of the project, surveys were conducted on the respiratory function of over 200 inhabitants of the GMA, cooperation was established with 6 schools, training was provided for teachers and lectures were held for students, and data on air quality in the GMA was obtained. One of the results of the project is a map showing air quality with areas of greatest importance for planning recreation and sport activities.
