Cooperation between industry and science in the development of electrochemical energy storage

Accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, Piotr Dziadzio, representatives of four state-owned companies and four universities signed a letter of intent concerning cooperation in the field of electrochemical energy storage. 

The aim of the letter, signed by representatives of PKN Orlen S.A., Grupa Azoty S.A., KGHM Polska Miedź S.A., PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna S.A and the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Warsaw University of Technology, Jagiellonian University in Kraków and Warsaw University, is to build an ionic cell factory to be used in Polish energy storage, both prosumer and large-scale.

‘Our aim is to use the available domestic raw material potential to build cells as well as energy storage facilities. The development of energy storage technologies is a necessity for the smooth functioning of the electricity system in Poland and the further dynamic development of prosumer energy’, said Deputy Minister Piotr Dziadzio.
