Copernicus Festival 2023

From 23 to 28 May 2023, the Copernicus Festival 2023 – Cosmos will take place at the Museum of Engineering and Technology in Krakow, bringing participants closer to issues in the fields of cosmology, psychology or astrobiology.

The Copernicus Science and Culture Festival is co-organised by the Copernicus Centre for Interdisciplinary Research at the Jagiellonian University, the Copernicus Centre Foundation, the Tygodnik Powszechny Foundation and the publisher of the Tygodnik Powszechny. The objectives of the festival are to popularise science and philosophy, to explain their impact on social life and to show the various relations between them and other fields of culture, including literature and art.

According to the organisers, successive scientific revolutions, from the one instigated by Nicolaus Copernicus to the emergence of the 20th century theory of relativity and cosmology based on it, have pushed man from the centre of the cosmos to its periphery. From a cosmic perspective, the Earth is just one of probably billions of planets, orbiting billions of stars, in one of billions of galaxies.
