Copernicus Science Center resuming the program “Straight from heaven”

09.06.2021

The Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw is resuming the program “Straight from heaven”- meetings with scientists at the Copernicus Science Center Planetarium.

This Thursday, June 10, 2021 at 19.00, Dr Radosław Poleski will talk about distant planets.

Within his lecture, he will discuss the discovery of planets by gravitational microlensing, which is the specialty of astronomers from the University of Warsaw.

This method allows scientists to search for planets being far from Earth. Dr Poleski will focus on exoplanets also distant from their stars, resembling Uranus and Neptune. He will also lecture about other intriguing celestial bodies – planets that do not revolve around any star.

Dr Radosław Poleski works at the Department of Observational Astrophysics, Astronomical Observatory of the University of Warsaw.
