Archaeologist Dr Wacław Kulczykowski, Faculty of History at the University of Gdańsk and programmer Mateusz Sokalszczuk, Scriptwelder Studio became the finalists of this year’s Science Popularizer 2020 competition in the Team category.

Both men have been creating scientific computer games together since 2015. In their productions – Excavate! (2015) and Waterworks! (2020) played over a million times worldwide.

– It looks that we are quite an unusual “team”: I am an archaeologist, Mateusz – a programmer and a game developer. However, together, by combining our extremely different skills, we are able to popularize science in an original, unusual way. In this way, we want to show how important interdisciplinary cooperation is – says Dr Kulczykowski.

About 100 candidates entered the 16th Science Popularizer 2020 competition. It awards scientists, media people, institutions and social activists whose passion is sharing knowledge. 18 candidates were selected for the final.
