Drone of the Lodz University of Technology to study the air quality in the city

11.01.2019

The drone of the Lodz University of Technology (PŁ) since February will begin to regularly examine the air quality over the city and the pollution.

This is the result of the work of Dr Eng. Robert Cichowicz from the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering, which last year began the implementation of the project under the name “Spatial analysis of changes in the state of air pollution in the Łódź agglomeration”. The Łódź University allocated PLN 140,000 for the project.

Equipped with specialized equipment, drones will investigate nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and other substances that appeared in the air from boiler rooms, combined heat and power plants, coal-fired ovens, oil and gas boilers as well as from car exhaust fumes. In addition, it will check the amount of ozone in the air.
