World Logics Day to be held at the University of Warsaw

11.01.2019

This year, the World Logic Day will be celebrated for the first time at the University of Warsaw (UW). The Institute of Philosophy of the University of Warsaw invites students to participate in open lectures held as part of the event ” World Logics Day at the University of Warsaw” on January 14.

The aim of the event is to mark the role of logics among other sciences and in social life. The initiator of the World Logic Day is Prof. Jean-Yves Beziau from the University of Rio de Janeiro, organizer of congresses devoted to various aspects of logics. He chose the date of January 14, because it is a day associated with the life of world-renowned logicians who became patrons of the event: Polish Alfred Tarski (118th anniversary of birth) and Austrian Kurt Kapel (41st death anniversary).

There are currently 29 universities in different parts of the world involved in the World Logic Day.
