Nearly 250 photovoltaic panels have been mounted on the roof of the building of the Faculty of Construction and Environmental Engineering at the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin. The cost of the investment is almost PLN 5 million, most of which is EU funding. The environmental benefits include a reduction of almost 19 000 kg of CO2 emissions and the ‘planting’ of 570 trees.

After the installation of the photovoltaic farm, the department is virtually self-sufficient in energy during the “sunny” period (from the turn of March/April to November). It now even has excess electricity production that can be used to meet the demand of the neighbouring building. Bills are less than a quarter of what they were a year ago.

As part of the project, which was completed in January 2023, 246 photovoltaic panels were installed on the faculty’s roof, the ceiling was insulated, the ventilation was upgraded and all the lights in the building were replaced with led lights.
