Researchers at the Bialystok University of Technology (PB) are developing a system that will assist emergency services. ESWSE – Electronic Support System for Effective Evacuation – is a type of Internet of Things application. PB is working on the system together with a partner company, MOOSE Sp. z o.o.

ESWSE consists of three components: wristbands worn by people in the monitored facility, locators in the facility that receive the signal from the wristbands via Bluetooth, and a server that has the capacity to record data and prepare visualisations in the form of a website, for example.

The electronic wristband will inform the patient of the need to evacuate and the monitoring system will locate the evacuated person and determine heart rate and blood oxygen saturation.

At the moment, the device is being tested at the PB Faculty of Electrical Engineering, where a prototype evacuation system has been created. Ultimately, it is to be tested in a nursing home.
