Employees of the Faculty of Computer Science and Communication at the University of Economics in Katowice have started the international research project “CALYPSO – Collaborative AnaLYsis, and exPosure of diSinfOrmation”.
The aim of the project is to create a collaborative environment using a crowdsourcing platform to combat disinformation. The Calypso platform will help journalists, editors, experts and fact-checkers to collaborate in real time to detect and publish cases of misinforming media campaigns and fake news in local digital media.
The project is financed by the European Union as part of the Pilot Project – EU grants for small-scale online media: supporting high-quality news products and tackling fake news. The project’s budget is nearly PLN 420,000. euro, including 95 thousand euro for the University of Economics in Katowice.
