The jury of the nationwide “Lodołamacze” competition awarded the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Wrocław 1st place in the category of friendly space – digital accessibility. The award was given for adapting universal design and the best urban planning and architectural solutions for adapting buildings and spaces to the needs of people with disabilities.
The Icebreakers is a competition that recognises good practices of institutions and companies in eliminating barriers for people with disabilities. It is the largest and longest-running (for 17 years) competition of its kind in Poland, responding to changing needs and pointing out new trends in the social involvement of business, institutions and organisations.
The idea behind the Icebreakers is to break stereotypes, prejudices and, above all, the ice of indifference towards people with disabilities. The competition has 7 categories, awarding projects from various institutions, universities and companies – from small to large corporations.
