First grants in the IMPRESS-U programme

Researchers from the University of Rzeszów and the University of Opole have been awarded the first two grants in the international IMPRESS-U competition. Over the next two years, they will carry out joint research in cooperation with scientists from the USA and Ukraine. They will receive a total of almost PLN 1.5 million from the National Science Centre for this purpose.

Dr Oleksandr Korchynskyi from the University of Rzeszow, together with a Polish team, will carry out research entitled ‘Multiscale surfaces for high-performance cell sorting’. The US partner in the project is a team led by Dr Sergiy Minko from the University of Georgia, and the work on the Ukrainian side will be led by Prof. Yaroslav Ilnytskyy from the Institute of Condensed Phase Physics in Lviv.

The team of Dr Anna Lytova from the University of Opole, on the other hand, will collaborate with Dr Radosław Adamczak from the University of Warsaw on a project Random Matrix Theory and its Applications in Deep Learning, in collaboration with 10 other participants from the United States and Ukraine.
