Three foreign scientists will carry out their research at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Their projects received funding in the Polonez Bis competition of the National Science Center.

With this funding, Dr Michael Pleyer will carry out the project “Metaphor and Semiotics in (Inter) Action”. The main goal will be to study how metaphors work in communication and how people use them when communicating.

Dr Agnieszka Małgorzata Pawłowska-Mainville received funding for the project “Exchange of knowledge and experience on the protection of folklore and intangible national heritage”, and Dr Tomasz Ryszard Wasak obtained money for the project “Quantum effects in light and matter systems in non-equilibrium states”.

Polonez Bis is a competition for research projects of scientists coming from abroad. The aim is to develop their scientific careers by supporting international mobility and financing ambitious projects carried out in the best Polish centers.
