Gdansk researcher receives grant in the Polish-Chinese call

Dr Anna Żaczek from the Department of Medical Biotechnology of the Interuniversity Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk received a grant in the Polish-Chinese call of the National Center for Research and Development and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China.

The grant of PLN 2 million was awarded for the project “Circulating cancer cells in personalized medicine – an effective method of isolation, analysis at the level of individual cells and use in predicting response to treatment”. The effect is to be a package of solutions that allows for more precise treatment assignments, including a CTC detection kit and a quick response test based on biomarkers identified within the project.

The project involves the cooperation of leading centers in their regions in the field of biotechnology and engineering of nanomaterials: Inter-University Biotechnology Department and Institute of Functional Nano & Soft Materials from Soochow University.
