The cadets of the Naval Academy in Gdynia have won first place in a competition held by the Minister of National Defence. They were recognised for their implementation of the Unmanned Maritime System (BSM) in the operational and reconnaissance category for the underwater vehicle “SCHEDAR”.

“BSM SCHEDAR” was developed as a technology demonstrator in the operational and reconnaissance category to monitor and control the area of interest. in particular for the acquisition of environmental data on water pollution.

“SCHEDAR” autonomously manoeuvres along a route indicated by the operator to collect water samples. The movement of the vehicle is carried out covertly, in total immersion, determining its position by means of inertial navigation. During a single mission, the BSM can collect up to 12 water samples. Its forward compartment responsible for collecting samples can be adapted to combat tasks, in which case the warhead is equipped with an explosive charge.
