Paweł Mync, a graduate of the mechanical engineering department of the Silesian University of Technology won the second prize of the 8th Siemens Award Competition for graduates of automation and robotics. The young engineer was awarded for his master’s thesis “Application of an expert system for diagnosing a selected automation system”.

The matter discussed in the diploma thesis refers to the need to apply new methodologies and measures enabling practical implementation of Industry 4.0 concept. The solution proposed at work is an innovative and practical approach to the construction of diagnostic expert systems operating in the cloud computing.

In this year’s competition, 26 diploma theses were submitted, which in the opinion of the jury members presented a very high and even level. The works were evaluated in terms of the innovativeness of the idea, the practical application possibilities, the scientific level and the quality of the work.
