HarSval is a new project of the Centre for Polar Studies at the University of Silesia

Dr Dariusz Ignatiuk from the University of Silesia in Katowice (Centre for Polar Studies) is the head of the project ‘HarSval. Bilateral initiative aiming at Harmonisation of the Svalbard cooperation’. The project initiated by the Polish Polar Consortium involves 11 partners from Poland and 14 partners from Norway.

The project is expected to strengthen bilateral relations between Norway and Poland, expand partner networks and the scope of existing research activities, as well as transfer knowledge, technology, experience, and best practices.

The project includes activities to modernise and standardise the Svalbard monitoring system; measures in priority areas for the Polish and Norwegian polar communities; activities to develop competencies and skills, internationalisation and increase the visibility of the Polish polar community, as well as measures in FAIR data and open science, and in popularisation, communication and management.
