Over half a million archive Polonica items were obtained by the University of Białystok (UB) historians from the archives in Minsk and Lviv. The items were transferred to the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw and the State Archives in Białystok.

The archive materials include: over 435 thousand scans of the Polonica archives from the State Archives in Lviv from the Przemyśl city books collection (these documents will be transferred to the Central Archives of Historical Records in Warsaw) and over 77 thousand pages of the Podlasie land registers from the State Archives in Minsk; some of them will remain in the research centre of the State Archives in Białystok.

Historians are researching and compiling digitally valuable documents for the history of the Republic of Poland as part of a long-term project implemented with the funding of the Minister of Education and Science. The works are carried out within the framework of the Institute for Research on the Cultural Heritage of Europe, established 15 years ago.
