The Foundation “Science. I Like It” (NTL) conducted a survey to show how superheroes and scientists are perceived in the USA and Poland, and which of them enjoy greater recognition.
The results of the survey clearly indicate that most of the extremely important Polish scientists are forgotten, and in the minds of many people, Maria Skłodowska-Curie and Nicolaus Copernicus are mainly present.
These two lead the way, regardless of whether the question about famous Polish scientists is answered by fans of the channel ‘Science. I like it’ channel, Polish Internet users in general or respondents from the USA.
In the first part of the survey, respondents were asked to name- both Polish and foreign scientists they know. The undisputed leaders are Maria Skłodowska-Curie and Albert Einstein.
When asked about representatives of Polish science, Americans mentioned only two names – Skłodowska-Curie received 10% of indications and Copernicus 2%.
