The first, completely free, application supporting speech therapy for people with aphasia is now available in the Internet. The Afast application was created thanks to cooperation between Technopark in Gliwice, Collegium Medicum of the Jagiellonian University and the Salus Publica Foundation as part of the Social Innovation program co-financed by the National Center for Research and Development.
The Afast application, operating from March 2017 at http://www.afast.pl, is a multimedia rehabilitation tool. The solution provides patients, their caregivers and logopedics specialists with the free access to therapy. It also allows to conduct classes in cooperation with a caretaker or speech therapist.
The program contains over 30 exercises designed for rehabilitation for three types of aphasia – loss of speech, understanding and the ability to read and write. It is intended for people affected by aphasia in a light or medium degree. It can also be used in the treatment of other neurological diseases, such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disorders.
