Dr Iwona Mazur from the Department of English Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań is carrying out the project ‘Visually impaired persons and the functions of multimodal texts: Developing a functional model of audiodescription’.

The aim of the project is to create an audiodescription model that considers the functions of multimodal texts (such as a film, theatre performance or sports event) as well as the needs and expectations of visually impaired people. The result will be a practical tool for determining what to describe and how to describe it, depending on the type and genre of the text (e.g., a drama film, comedy, reality show, advertisement, etc.).

The project will contribute to the development of knowledge in the field of audiodescription, both on a theoretical and practical level. It will contribute to the building of an inclusive society in which visually impaired people can fully engage in cultural and social life.
