Invention of scientists from Toruń and Bydgoszcz wins the International Warsaw Invention Show medal

The wheelchair seat for patients with ossification developed by a team of scientists from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń and the University of Casimir the Great in Bydgoszcz won a bronze medal at the International Warsaw Invention Show IWIS 2018.

The authors of the invention are Dr. Emilia Mikołajewska from the Department of Physiotherapy of the Faculty of Health Sciences Collegium Medicum at the University of Toruń and Dr Eng Dariusz Mikołajewski from the Institute of Applied Mechanics and Applied Sciences of Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Technology at the University of Bydgoszcz.

The award-winning invention enables comfortable and safe use of the wheelchair. It consists of a cartridge installed to the wheelchair seat and a software system supporting the design and its performance.

The International Warsaw Exhibition of Inventions is Poland’s largest international event promoting inventiveness and innovation. Every year, guests from over 25 countries in the world participate in the exhibition.
