25.10.2019

The Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Krakow held the international conference “Brazil-Kraków. A Bridge to South America”devoted to the development of scientific and academic cooperation between Brazil and Polish universities. The event was attended by the Brazilian ambassador to Poland Hadil Fontes da Rocha Vianna.

Plenipotentiary of the Rector of the Jagiellonian University for internationalization Prof. Adam Jelonek emphasized that Brazil is one of Poland’s most important foreign partners in Latin America. He noted that the excellent basis for Polish-Brazilian cooperation is created by the fact that there is a very large (about two-million) community of people of Polish origin in this country. The hundredth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Brazil next year is an opportunity to strengthen mutual partnership.

Professor Jelonek expressed the hope that the meeting at the Jagiellonian University will significantly contribute to achieving this goal, especially in the field of scientific research and higher education.
