Joint competition of the Wrocław University of Technology and The Bank of New York Mellon

Jonas Al-Hadad, PhD student at the Faculty of Mathematics, won joint the Wroclaw University of Technology and The Bank of New York Mellon competition for the best master’s thesis in applied mathematics. The competition is the first effect of the cooperation agreement that the bank and the university signed in 2017.

The jury consisted of representatives of the university, associated with the Hugo Steinhaus Center and representatives of the New York bank, who evaluated the submitted works in terms of the originality of the idea, mathematical correctness and the possibility of applying the solution proposed by the students in practice.

The main prize was received by Jonas Al-Hadad, a graduate of Applied Mathematics, for “Pricing of American options: single and double continuation region”. The laureate is currently a PhD student at the Faculty of Mathematics and participates in the project “InterDok – Interdisciplinary Programs of PhD Studies at the Wroclaw University of Technology”.
