Koszalin University of Technology has obtained a grant for the purchase of equipment for conducting scientific research regarding the assessment of the technical condition of buildings. The subsidy of 532 thousand PLN is allocated by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.
The money will be used to purchase specialized measuring equipment used in construction and geodesy. The set includes: a ground-based laser scanner with a thermal camera, a set of shields and a tablet for mobile cooperation with the scanner. The apparatus can be used to conduct scientific research in laboratory and field conditions.
The technique of terrestrial laser scanning is based on remote measurement of the object and creating, based on the data obtained in this way, a detailed image of it. This allows specialists to assess the technical condition of various buildings: detect defects, cracks and other defects. On the basis of a detailed analysis of surface changes, it is also possible to evaluate the progressing changes in the structure of objects.
