Krakow scientists join the international WATERLINE project

08.03.2021

Researchers of the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków together with scientists from the University of Democrats in Thrace (Greece), the University of Oulu (Finland), the Technical University of Vienna (Austria) and the University of Neuchatel (Switzerland) will study the water cycle in river catchments. Research work will be carried out under the WATERLINE project – New solutions for data assimilation and transfer to improve hydrological models and forecasts.

The WATERLINE project combines classical measurement methods for hydrological modeling with remote sensing methods and information and communication technologies. Information achieved from multiple sources (remote sensing, archival data, ground measurements, crowdsourcing observations) will be used to improve the hydrological models and their ability to generate hydrological forecasts.

As a result, the WATERLINE research team will create web applications in the form of maps, charts and indicators using augmented and virtual reality. They will be used by hydrologists or representatives of water management units.
