Laureate of the Ivan Wyhowski Award to deliver a lecture at the University of Gdańsk

The Faculty of History of the University of Gdańsk hosts Prof. Wiktor Horobec from the Institute of History of Ukraine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kiev. The scientist is the laureate of the Ivan Wyhowski Award for 2020.

Prof. Horobec is an experienced researcher-historian and educator known in the international scientific community. As part of his stay in Gdańsk, he will carry out research on the influence of the Polish Commonwealth’s tradition on the social institutions of the Cossack state in the 17th / 18th centuries. The result of his researches will be a monograph.

The Wyhowski Award has been granted since 2014. It honors the merits of Ukrainian citizens in the development of science, culture and public life, in shaping and developing a civil society in Ukraine, and in building a democratic Ukraine – oriented towards Europe, taking into account the best traditions of the former Republic of Poland and the historical, contemporary and future ties of Ukraine with Poland and Europe.
