The laboratories of the Institute of Electronics at the Faculty of Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunications at the AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH) in Kraków have been equipped with the LPKF ProtoLasers U4 laser system.

Weighing nearly a tonne, the device specialises in making printed circuit boards, which can be found in all kinds of electronic devices: from electronic watches, calculators, general-purpose computers, PCs, to electronic communication devices or military weapons systems. With this equipment, the Institute of Electronics will produce circuit boards for its own research, reports AGH.

The ProtoLaser U4 will, first and foremost, allow the replacement of the current method of manufacturing printed circuit boards and increase the resolution and accuracy of electronic circuits, which in the case of microwave circuits have very small dimensions. This will make it possible to develop microwave circuits operating in the band even up to 100 GHz.
