Students of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology Zuzanna Bućko and Alona Usychenko won third prize in the Affordable Housing Challenge competition. The participants were tasked with designing affordable housing facilities in Los Angeles.

The Affordable Housing Challenge is an international competition organised by the Buildner platform in collaboration with Archive Books. The challenge is to develop designs for affordable housing solutions in a specific location. This one is different in each edition. The protagonist of the latest edition of the competition was Los Angeles, struggling with soaring rents, gentrification and expensive homes.

A project by female PW students called T.R.U. (Thrive Revive Unite) embodies the ideas of development, revitalisation and unity. It is a combination of a commitment to optimal livability, rejuvenation of the Los Angeles River and its environs, and the creation of pedestrian-friendly connections and a vibrant community.
