Lublin Maria Curie Skłodowska University holds a scientific conference on contemporary media discourses

The Chair of Journalism of the Institute of Social Communication and Media Sciences at Maria Curie Skłodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin organized on April 22-23, 2021 the Polish scientific conference within the program “Contemporary Media”.

The topic of the conference was “Contemporary media discourses”. Organizers emphasized, that the conference topic was dictated by the observation of the legitimacy of the use of the discourse category in contemporary media research and the practice of conducting such research by researchers of various scientific traditions.

This year’s event was attended by scientists from the Warsaw, Jagiellonian, Wrocław, Warmia-Masuria, Rzeszów, Papal John Paul II, Łódź and Silesian universities. During the panels, they discussed topics such as: “Fake news as a creator of reality”, “Television discourse of news broadcasts on the example of weather forecast”, “Fear in the media discourse about the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland”, “Music as a form of message of the world in the discourse of computer games”.
