The City of Lublin and the Institute of Sociology at Maria Curie-Sklodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin have signed a cooperation agreement focusing on cooperation in research, analysis and scientific projects related to the social sciences.

One of the main objectives of the agreement is the periodical implementation of the ‘Lublin Diagnosis’, i.e. a comprehensive social diagnosis covering the city of Lublin and, in the long term, also the Lublin voivodeship. Research carried out under the agreement will allow for the systematic monitoring of the situation of Lublin’s residents, their needs, opinions and expectations, as well as the changes taking place in this area.

Cooperation between science, business and local government is one of the foundations of the development of modern academic cities – it is also one of the missions of modern universities. In the case of Lublin, close cooperation between science and local government is today’s hallmark, and the academic nature and strengthening of the scientific potential of the city has been recognised as one of the key areas of the Lublin 2030 Strategy,” said Dr Mariusz Sagan, Director of the Strategy and Entrepreneurship Department of the Lublin City Hall.
