The latest issue of the journal “Biodiversity: Research and Conservation” is entirely devoted to the results of the project “UAM Nature Collections on the Internet: digitisation and access to the natural history data resource of the Faculty of Biology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan” (AMUNATCOLL).

The project was carried out by a consortium of the university’s Faculty of Biology and the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre (PSNC). The work has resulted in more than 2.2 million digitised specimens and hundreds of terabytes of scans and images.

The data can be viewed via the portal developed or in the GBIF international database, where they have been exported, representing approximately one per mille of all information from around the world. A mobile application has also been developed. It allows research to be conducted in the field and results to be uploaded to the portal, where they can be further processed using advanced BioGIS tools.
