Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals to launch a new project

07.05.2021

The Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals is the leader of the project “Production of reference materials necessary for the analysis of electronic and electrical devices placed on the EU market, regulated by the RoHs Directive”. The aim is to develop, produce and certify 10 new certified reference materials for materials based on low-alloy steels, copper, zinc, tin and aluminium, with certified content of Cd, Pb, Cr and Hg.

Certified reference materials (CRM) are chemically and physically homogeneous materials in which the content of individual elements was determined based on chemical analyzes and statistical analysis. These contents are considered benchmarks and serve as a reference in analytical laboratories.

The project includes the development of casting methods allowing for the casting of homogeneous materials containing limited elements in an amount that allows obtaining from 300 to 600 pieces of CRM for each base.
