12.12.2018

The Unconventional Vehicles Circle OFF-ROAD took first place in the prestigious Robotex 2018 competition in Estonia. Students of Wrocław University of Technology were awarded for their Mars rover Scorpio X.

Scorpio X is the sixth rover created by members of the OFF-ROAD circle. It has a modular structure, and its construction was made mainly of aviation aluminium and polyamide, light materials with excellent mechanical properties. The tires of the vehicle have very good adhesion features due to being made of corduroy and filled with foam granulate.

The rover has four-wheel drive, each wheel is powered by a separate BLDC 250W engine. Thanks to this, it has enough power to overcome even the most demanding terrain and obstacles, such as holes and steep approaches.

Robotex is the biggest international event addressed to fans of robotics. It takes place in the exhibition center in Tallinn.
