The Medical University of Silesia (SUM) is among 21 universities from all over Poland which have formed the Academic Space Network. The purpose of the network is to apply for funding to carry out research and development programmes in the field of space technologies and other tasks financed from domestic and foreign sources, including commercial entities.
“The Academic Space Network’s aim is joint planning and implementation of scientific research and development works in the area of space technologies and fields related to space exploration and research”, says SUM’s Vice-Chancellor for Development and Technology Transfer Professor Edward Wylęgała.
In its activities, the network aims at scientific and student cooperation, including staff exchanges and cooperation with scientific circles dealing with space technology. Among other things, it is planning to create engineering and medical faculties at the universities.
