The Department of Physiology of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Medical University of Silesia won 880 thousand PLN to research new therapeutic strategies in hereditary retinal dystrophies. The money is allocated within the POLS competition organized by the National Science Center.
POLS is a competition for research projects carried out by scientists coming from abroad to Polish research organizations or enterprises. The arrival of both recognized and promising scientists, holding at least a PhD title, who will contribute to strengthening the scientific potential of Polish research units.
The ProteoRetina project “Searching for new therapeutic options in the treatment of hereditary retinal diseases based on protein interaction analysis” will be led by a proteomics expert, Dr Xiaonan Liu from the Institute of Biotechnology of the University of Helsinki, who will be employed for the duration of the project at the Medical University of Silesia.
