The European Research Council (ERC) has set up a mentor base of researchers who have previously served on ERC evaluation panels and ERC laureates to support researchers applying for ERC grants.
The initiative aims to increase the participation in ERC grants of institutions from countries that are less successful in applying for grants from framework programs (including Poland).
In Poland, the largest research funding agencies joined the project: the National Center for Research and Development, the National Science Center, the National Agency for Academic Exchange and the Foundation for Polish Science.
The agencies allowed their winners who meet the criteria for applying for an ERC grant to use the ERC Mentoring Initiative and to finance the costs of participation in it from the funds of already implemented national projects.
