The Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, met with the authorities of the Podhale State Vocational University (PPUZ) in Nowy Targ and representatives of hospitals and medical establishments in connection with the PPUZ’s application for permission to start a medical faculty. The university also received a cheque for a PLN 3 million grant in the form of revenue bonds.
During the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Science spoke about the increasing number of universities where medical faculties can be studied.
Other important topics of discussion included changing the law to allow non-medical universities to offer medical courses, the transformation of vocational universities into academies of applied sciences and cooperation between vocational universities and medical institutions.
“Already today, there are more medical faculties at non-medical universities in Poland than at medical universities directly subordinate to the Minister of Education and Science”, Minister Czarnek said.
