Ministry of Education and Science appoints Commission for the Evaluation of Science

The Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Wojciech Murdzek, presented 34 representatives of individual fields of science and art and specialists in science policy with appointments as members of the Commission for the Evaluation of Science. It is chaired by Prof. Filip M. Szymański of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, who is president of the Polish Society for Civilisation Diseases.

The tasks of the Commission for the Evaluation of Science include evaluation of the quality of scientific activity, preparation of drafts of a list of publishing houses publishing peer-reviewed scientific monographs, a list of scientific journals and peer-reviewed materials from international conferences, and presentation of proposals of scientific categories to the minister for entities subject to evaluation. 

The Commission is composed of three representatives of each field of science and art, selected from among candidates submitted by universities, scientific institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, research institutes and international institutes. The commission also included seven persons with experience in science policy, indicated by the Minister of Education and Science.
