The National Center for Research and Development (NCBR) and PKN ORLEN have announced the application process for the joint NEON grant program, i.e. NEW ORLEN. In the first competition, it will be possible to obtain PLN 35 million for projects related to the production of ecological biomass from plants that will not disturb the ecosystem.

The National Center for Research and Development is planning four competitions in total, two in 2022 and two in 2023. This year they will include issues “Biomass” and “Closed Circulation Economy”, and in the next, “Decarbonization” and “Industry 4.0”. PKN ORLEN and the National Center for Research and Development will spend as much as PLN 200 million on innovative research and development projects.

°Today, we badly need technologies that meet the assumptions of the European Green Deal and that can be used in the refining, petrochemical and energy industries. The competition creates opportunities for the implementation of research and development projects that may bring groundbreaking practical solutions°, said Dr Remigiusz Kopoczek, acting director of the NCBR.
